The Journey to become a Mum

“I’m going to be a Mummy”, was always my answer when adults would ask what I wanted to be when I grew up and on the 17th of March 2015 that’s exactly what I became. Having a baby was what I always wanted from my earliest memory. I have no idea what sparked this inherent need to have another person grow inside of me and to bring someone into the world. Through my adult years during my relationship with my now husband, whenever I would make a wish on birthday candles or a fallen eyelash I would always wish for a baby. My husband James always knew that babies were my number 1 on my list of things to do and 9 Months after getting married I fell pregnant with our baby girl and although we weren’t actively trying she is without a doubt the best thing that ever happened to both of us.

My pregnancy was pretty good aside from the usual morning sickness, tiredness and water retention. I loved being pregnant and feeling the baby move inside me. Honestly the best feeling ever. Labour started when my waters broke at 4am and progressed reasonably quickly after that. I went into the birthing centre 12 hours later and at 7:32pm Ailsa Lillian Lynch was born with the help of the Ventouse as she got a little stuck on the way out. The experience wasn’t horrendous and I most definitely want to do it again way down the line in the future.

Ailsa is now 4 months old and growing to be a gorgeous little girl with a huge personality and I cannot wait to watch her grown and learn new things. I hope you’ll follow us on our journey of learning and discovery both for me as a mother and Ailsa as a new person in this big wide world.
